The Groups that Give Reston its Character

One of the facets of living in Reston that has helped the community continue to grow and maintain its quality of life is the rich tapestry of civic organizations and groups that sustain it. We invite you to learn more about these organizations and to get involved in their missions.

Friends of Reston for Community Projects

Established in 1999, Friends of Reston for Community Projects, Inc. is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Its mission is to support Reston Association in performing charitable, educational and scientific purposes.

Friends of the Reston Regional Library

The Friends of the Reston Regional Library, Inc. is a Virginia-based 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to the support of the Fairfax County Library System, with particular emphasis on Reston Regional Library. It raises money through sales of donated books and individual and corporate contributions to provide programs and equipment that foster literacy, public education, and community improvement.

Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE)

GRACE enriches community life by promoting involvement and excellence in the visual arts. The organization provides year-round programming including visual art exhibitions, lectures, Children’s Workshops, a Children’s Summer Art Program, Art in the Schools, the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival™ and other educational events.

Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce

For over 25 years, the Chamber has served as the doorway to business growth and development along the Dulles Business Corridor. In addition to providing leadership on policy issues affecting local businesses, the organization offers a wealth of resources, activities and outreach events that help its members connect with each other and the local community.  Download the Chamber's Quality of Life Guide.

Reston Lions Club

A non-profit service organization dedicated to aiding the community and surrounding area of Reston, Va., through volunteering and fundraising efforts. Our initiatives and efforts include hearing and vision screenings, eyeglass recycling, volunteer efforts in the community. Lions motto is We Serve. Reston Citizens Association

Founded in 1967, RCA is a nonprofit civic association that serves over 60,000 people by protecting and defending Reston’s founding principles. With modest financial resources, it is run by volunteers to promote the social and political interests of Reston, and to serve as a forum for residents and an advocate for the community with County and State government.

Reston Community Center

Reston Community Center enriches lives and builds community for all of Reston. Each year, RCC offers more than 2,000 positive, self-development experiences that enhance the quality of life for all who live and work in Reston. RCC provides a wide range of programs in arts, aquatics, fitness, enrichment and life-long learning. RCC also connects the community and helps Reston neighbors create memories through special events, outreach activities and facility rentals. RCC opened in 1979 with our flagship facility at Hunters Woods Village Center. RCC opened a second facility at Lake Anne Plaza in 1999.

(formerly Reston Interfaith)

This nonprofit organization, established in 1970, serves Reston, Herndon and northwestern Fairfax County. Cornerstones promotes self-sufficiency through support and advocacy for those in need of food, shelter, affordable housing, quality childcare and other services.  

The Reston Museum and Shop

Operated by The Reston Historic Trust, this community-based non-profit organization includes a museum that offers children’s art workshops, walking tours, community exhibits and archives and more.
